We are a small family-owned business based out of Idaho, founded by natives of the state. Our team consists of family members and close friends who work together to serve our customers and community. We are passionate about gardening and strive to enhance the lives of others through the cultivation of flowers, vegetables, herbs, and fruits.
Our seeds are locally sourced from high-quality farms, mainly in the Pacific Northwest region. We are committed to providing only the best seeds because we understand the importance of integrity in growing food for you and your loved ones. The health of future generations is a driving force behind our business, which is why the majority of our seeds are Heirloom and Non-GMO.
We chose to name our company Isla's Garden Seeds after the youngest member of our family, Isla. She brings joy and vibrancy to our home, much like a beautiful garden filled with colorful blooms. You may have received a packet of seeds with Isla's photo on it if you've purchased from us since our establishment in 2017.
One of our most popular products is the Crimson Sweet watermelon. This watermelon variety has a tough, medium green rind with dark green stripes. The seeds are perfect for planting in your garden or storing in a safe place for emergencies. When the vines start to grow, make sure to mulch heavily to control weeds and protect the melons from touching the soil. Keep the soil moist until the fruits start to form, and then water only when the soil becomes completely dry.
The Crimson Sweet watermelon is an annual plant that takes 85 days to mature. It grows to a height of 6-12 inches and requires spacing of 5-6 feet. This variety produces nearly round watermelons weighing an average of 25 pounds with striped green skin and juicy crimson flesh. The Latin name of this watermelon is Citrullus lanatus, and it is classified as an Open Pollinated, Heirloom, Warm Season plant. It can be grown in USDA Zones 3 to 12.
